A New Year…A New Team!
Exciting news was announced last week, so I thought I would make a quick post to talk about the background of this news and that I will be part of the EGO p/b Sammy's Bikes racing team for 2014!
On Friday, the official press release announced a new team and partnership of EGO and Sammy's Bikes. The team is set up to support and develop athletes to reach their full potential in the sport. The past few years I've been part of a great team, USPro Tri, that supported me and really has developed quite a few talented athletes. I was honored to be part of the team, and was blessed to receive the support that I did from them. But after deciding to go back and race as an amateur, I didn't feel that I should be holding a spot on their roster full of Pro triathletes.
Sammy's Bikes, in St. Charles, has been helping me out quite a bit the last few seasons as well making sure I had the right bike and that my equipment was ready to go come race day. Sammy's Bikes also had developed quite the accomplished road cycling team that climbed the ranks and put the hurt on many of the midwest competition.
For 2014, Sammy's road and tri teams combined forces and picked up an amazing company, EGO, as a title sponsor to form the EGO presented by Sammy's Bikes racing team. The team is set up to help develop the athletes and help them bridge the gap between amateurs and professionals. The end goal is to become the best athletes that we can become. Often times it can be rough for developing athletes to try to climb the ranks in their sport while working and managing day to day life. Without a support team, many athletes often end their careers in sport because they need to pay the bills and support their families. This is exactly where EGO p/b Sammy's Bikes steps in. They are the support to help us continue and pursue our dreams.
I feel that it is the perfect fit for an athlete as myself as I try to progress in the sport of triathlon and still manage my work and daily life. I feel very lucky to be part of this team..and best yet, Jacqui is on the team as well! The team really has some firepower and is sure to turn some heads this year.
